The 2019 Gold Coast Open is the newly named Flight Centre Burleigh Pro, which, in 2017 and 2018, saw some of the world’s best surfers take part in four days of world-class competitive surfing on beautiful Burleigh Beach. This year, it’s back for six whole days with a brand new name and two brand new categories, making it a must-attend event for those that can’t get enough surfboarding action.
As with each event, elite surfers from all over the globe will head to the Gold Coast to showcase their brilliance on the waves as crowds gather on the beachfront to take in the atmosphere and spectate. There will be plenty of surfing talent to see firsthand, both local and international, plus a fantastic program of surf categories including Open Men’s and Women’s Pro Surf Division along with the brand-new-for-2019 Pro Junior Men’s and Women’s.
The Gold Coast Open will continue to serve as a WSL Qualifying Series event, in which participants will be aiming to collect points to compete at championship level as well as get a shot at the title at the prestigious World Championship Tour, which will take place next year.
As well as plenty of action on waves, the 2019 Gold Coast Open will feature free entertainment and activities for attendees to enjoy over the six-day competition. These will include half-pipe skateboarding, an open-air movie night and sunrise yoga sessions on the beach.
